  Composer Biography


Music has always played a significant role in the lives of brother and sister composers Damien Halloran and Maria Millward. From a large family where music and creative expression was always encouraged, both pursued individual musical interests in their younger years. In 1994 they combined their creative talents to work on a number of new musical ventures, some of which featured music for children as well as commissioned community projects. Damien is an accomplished and intuitive musician who writes and performs in a variety of styles. Strong, appealing melodies are his trademark. Maria brings to the partnership a wealth of experience working in musical and theatrical contexts, particularly with children, as well as a natural talent for melody and text writing. Together, they represent a formidable raw talent. Under Southern Skies is Damien and Maria's contribution to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games The song was written to celebrate the eternal youthfulness of the Olympic spirit, and reminds us that the world's children represent our future. Under Southern Skies grew out of a passionate belief in the vision and inspiration of the Olympics, and in true Olympic tradition. Damien and Maria have numerous musical works published by Willow Publishing including the popular Do to Others, We've Got the Power and We Will Bring Your Peace Into the World.
