Paul Mason

  Composer Biography


As a musician, Paul began singing in school choir at the age of 9. He studied AMEB piano and theory and began singing and playing piano professionally from the age of sixteen. Paul played in rock and jazz bands such as Australian Crawl and Crosswinds. As a composer, Paul has specialised in liturgical music. Paul's  collection of music compositions are included in the book "Psalms for All Time."  published by Willow Publishing and Mass of Glory and Praise and Mass of the Saints, both included in the As One Voice Liturgical Series. He also revised the popular Mass Shalom, by the late Br Colin Smith. As an author, Paul has had articles published in Worship Magazine, the Australian E-Journal of Theology and the Australian Journal of Liturgy. In addition to the music compositions, the book "Psalms for All Time" includes brief articles on each psalm with historical background and liturgical application. Paul is a member of the NSW Chapter of the Australian Academy of Liturgy. He is also the Academy's website editor. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from Melbourne University and worked in sales, marketing and general management in the IT industry for many years. Paul also holds a Master of Arts in Theology and a Master of Arts in Liturgy from Australian Catholic University and the Catholic Institute of Sydney (CIS). Paul is a member of the Steering Committee for the newly formed Australian Pastoral Musicians Network (APMN). He is married to Margaret and they have four adult children.
