Hilary Raimondo
Composer Biography
Hilary graduated in English literature and music from Auckland University in New Zealand; then completed a year of postgraduate study in music therapy in England. It was there that she saw, time and again, the power of music to reach into the deepest recesses of the human spirit. Since immigrating to South Australia, Hilary has taught in both schools and parishes around Adelaide, most recently at St Francis Xavier seminary, where she taught liturgical music. Hilary says "To me, the past is full of beautiful treasures of poetry and music which can make our lives so much richer. I strive to bring the past into the present, to make it accessible. With children, this is always an interesting challenge. I love to work with the Psalms. As poetry, music and prayer all together, they are for me the perfect way to find God. I find myself, too, on almost every page, and at the same time I have this wonderful sense of praying with the Church as the Church has always prayed, down through the ages." Compositions by Hilary can be found in "As One Voice" and "As One Voice for Kids."
